Registration is now open for our brand-new German Wine Scholar program at The Texas Wine School. This is a comprehensive exploration of Germany’s renowned wine regions, grape varieties, and classification systems.
Students who register early will receive access to the official Wine Scholar Guild study materials, allowing you to begin reading and studying ahead of the first class. This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with Germany’s regions, history, and terminology so you can get even more out of the classroom discussions and tastings.
Throughout the course, we will explore the distinctive terroirs of Germany—from the steep slate vineyards of the Mosel to the historic estates of the Rheingau—while tasting a carefully selected lineup of wines that illustrate the country’s remarkable diversity.
An optional certification exam is available for those wishing to earn the German Wine Scholar designation through the Wine Scholar Guild.
The German Wine Scholar (GWS) credential will be conferred to those individuals who achieve a score of 75 or higher on a 100-question multiple-choice test. Candidates scoring 85-90 pass with Honors. Candidates scoring 91-100 pass with Highest Honors.
