The Level 1 WSET wine education class is designed for wine enthusiasts seeking a challenging learning experience and wanting to deepen their knowledge about the main grape varieties and food and wine pairing. It’s also ideal for those who are beginning their first job in the wine industry. This foundational class introduces the main styles of wine, wine storage and service, and food and wine matching at a basic level.

The course includes a study manual, lectures, guided tastings, and an exam. Students who pass the exam will receive a certificate and pin.

These wine classes aim to equip students with relevant product and service information that applies to their work or studies. The qualification provides essential knowledge and skills in wine service, preparing individuals for roles in the sale and service of wine in restaurants and bars, as well as for store and call-center staff in wine retail or wholesale.

WSET recommends a minimum of 6 hours of study to prepare for the exam, all of which are covered during the course. For more details on the course content, please see the course specification.
