The Level 1, WSET wine education class is for wine consumers looking for challenging wine classes and who want to learn more about the main grape varieties and food and wine matching. It may also be used for students who are looking to begin their first job in wine. The foundation wine education class will introduce them, at a very basic level, to the main styles of wine available, wine storage and service, and the matching of food and wine.

The course includes a study manual, lectures, guided tastings, and an exam. Students who pass the exam will receive a certificate and pin. Should a student fail, they may retake the exam for a $75 fee.

These wine classes provide students with product and service information relevant to their place of employment or study. The qualification course provides the basic product knowledge and skills in the service of wines required to prepare a person with the knowledge to underpin the job skills and competences, for example, in positions in the sale and service of wine in restaurants and bars, and for store and call-center staff in wine retail or wholesale.

This class is held at the Wine Cellar, 2300 Lohmans Spur #111, Lakeway, TX 78734.

WSET recommends a total of 6 study hours in completing the course, all of which will be covered during the class. For more information on course content please see the course specification here.
