Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET)
WSET wine classes and qualifications cover five different levels of knowledge and skill, from absolute beginner to expert. The wine and spirit qualification courses cover product knowledge and tasting skills, making them suitable for all those who need such knowledge for their job as well as for those who have a general interest.
Society of Wine Educators
Founded in 1974, the Society of Wine Educators (SWE) is a non-profit dedicated to furthering the promotion and advancement of wine education in individuals and the industry as a whole. Its certificates are highly regarded both within the industry and outside, with each successful candidate urged to use post nominals in their professional signatures.
French Wine Scholar
The French Wine Scholar Wine Education program is a U.S. industry-endorsed and Wines of France/French National Wine Office-endorsed wine education program for trade and consumers. The French Wine Scholar education class is designed to test for proficiency in the wines and wine regions of France. It is endorsed by the National French Wine Office and by U.S. Importers of French Wine as well.
Italian Wine Specialist Certificate
The North American Sommelier Association is proud to present the 1st “Italian Wine Specialist” certification program, in Texas, recognized throughout the world and endorsed by the WSA (Worldwide Sommelier Association) as well as the AIS (Italian Sommelier Association). This course was designed by NASA around and extracted from the full Sommelier course curricula of the Italian Sommelier Association (AIS), recognized as the leading global educational and consulting authority on Italian wines.
Sake Certification
SSI ENDORSES SAKE SCHOOL OF AMERICA
Tokyo, Japan – On November 11, 2011 Sake Service Institute, or SSI as it’s widely known, and Sake School of America directors met in Tokyo to formalize an official alliance to expand Sake education reaching audiences beyond Japan. SSI is the largest organized body for sake sommelier certification in Japan. Sake School of America is the first in the US officially endorsed by SSI International opening opportunities for English based regions to utilize SSI’s expertise in the field.
Since 1990, under leadership and management by Mr. Keiji Migita and Mr. Haruyuki Hiyoki, SSI has developed certification programs covering Sake, Shochu, beer, wine, Chinese liquors, Western liquors, liquors for cultural festivities, cheeses, cigars and others totaling 29 different genres. To date, they have issued over 35,000 certifications, and with international expansion of Sake around the world, SSI International currently has school affiliations in South Korea and the US.
Sake School of America is the largest sake education and certification school in the US providing courses in both English and in Japanese languages. In a year, over 160 students have earned their Sake Adviser certifications. Founded by Noritoshi Kanai, Chairman of Mutual Trading Co., Inc. in 2010, Sake School of America is an education and training institution to promote Japan’s unique liquor cultures around the world, and is part of a larger vision aiming to ensure communication of true Japanese food culture to the next generation of chefs worldwide.
